Mary also is corporate counsel for the Village of Winnebago, IL, handling all municipal matters, including, but not limited to, annexations and zoning, liquor license and video gaming matters, personnel, municipal ordinance drafting and interpretation, and municipal ordinance and traffic prosecution. She also has several years' experience in real estate transactions, business transactions and contracts, civil litigation, eminent domain law, having represented both the Illinois Department of Transportation and the Illinois Tollway as a Special Assistant Attorney General, and personal injury, dealing with automobile accidents, slips and falls, and other injuries to person and property.
Mary is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the Winnebago County Bar Association and has been a featured speaker at both bar associations and public legal seminars. Mary is a member of the Rockford Ducks Unlimited Committee and served in several positions in the Quota Club of Rockford, a former business women's organization devoted to philanthropic activities and events dealing with the deaf and hearing impaired. Mary was also treasurer of the Rockford Golf Classic for Special Olympics.
Mary was also Chairman of the Winnebago Republican Party for 12 years, training and coordinating the efforts of hundreds of precinct committeemen, and instrumental in the election of many individuals to public office.
Mary is a Rockford native, having graduated from Boylan High School. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Illinois, where she majored in Political Science, with a Minor in Psychology. Mary then received her Juris Doctor legal degree from the University of Illinois College of Law. Mary is admitted to practice law in the State of Illinois, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and the United States Tax Court.
